Supplements

  • Nutritional supplements can be beneficial for several things including results and overall health. Although in general I do not “require” my clients to purchase and use supplements, I do strongly recommend them and feel in nearly all situations they can be beneficial if used long-term and consistently. Here is a list of supplements I use and recommend. I’ve worked with 1st Phorm and have used their supplements exclusively for quite a while now. They are absolutely the best quality products and do out perform every other brand on the market. Not all supplements are created equal and many companies now are using cheaper and cheaper quality ingredients to be competitive with market pricing but the quality of what you put in your body then suffers and so does your results. Your supplements are NOT an area you want to be cheap about when it comes to quality. You will receive free US shipping on all orders if you click any of the links below.

Any person, especially an active person can highly benefit from a quality multi-vitamin, even more if you’re working out intensely. Beware of “tablet” style vitamins which make up a majority of the generic or “centrum” style vitamins in the stores due to their ability to not dissolve fully in our system. I recommend M-Factor (they have a mens and woman’s version). It is a phenomenal sport multi-vitamin in capsule form for ensured digestion and absorption.

Not only is fish oil great for heart health but is also great for joints, digestion, increasing insulin sensitivity, and is anti-inflammatory. I highly recommend taking fish oil 1-2x a day with a meal. Not all fish oils are created equal, beware of the bargain fish oils, they’re normally not potent and many don’t contain the proper ratio of Omega 3’s, and 6’s which is also important. My recommendation is Full-Mega.

Just like anything else in life, you get what you pay for. Protein powders can be a great nutritional supplement in daily nutrition and an easy way to increase your daily protein intake. During the day if you’re looking for a meal replacement protein, then you’d want one that is a blend of different digestion rate proteins to sustain the release of amino acids into your blood for hours. Level-1 not only tastes absolutely amazing but is the highest quality protein on the market.

Without a doubt the #1 time of the day that I recommend a protein shake is immediately post workout. This is the single most important time to flood your body with quality, fast digesting protein to aid in recovery from your workout and with recovery, comes results. Phormula-1 is that product.

If you lift heavy or are looking to add muscle to your frame by recovering from your resistance training or are looking for a post workout carb product to replenish glycogen as quickly as possible post exercise then Ignition is a great option. Even if fat loss is your goal, post workout carbs can be a good product to integrate to aid in your recovery. You would want to mix this with the Phormula-1 protein above as your post workout shake.

Severely obese people, any endomorph body type and those who have been told are “pre-diabetic” or “insulin resistant” can benefit from a glucose disposal agent. Woman who tend to gain weight in their stomach or butt/hips/legs areas or men who primarily gain in their stomach area is a sign of insulin resistance. A glucose disposal agent is made up of natural products to increase the sensitivity of your cells to handle insulin and process your blood glucose levels efficiently which can lead to improved fat loss and results. This should ONLY be taken with meals that include carbohydrates and not with a low carb meal. GDA is NOT a “carb blocker”, it simply assists your body in processing carbohydrates more efficiently.

A pre-workout is loaded with stimulants which can give you an extra “umph” during your workout but the #1 reason I promote a pre-workout product is for the increased blood flow purposes. The more blood you can get to the muscle the more nutrients and oxygen it can take and therefore better and faster recovery which equals results. If you are sensitive to caffeine or other central nervous system stimulants, there are some stimulant free versions available on the market.
